62nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron

The 62nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron transfered from O’Hare airport in Chicago to K. I. Sawyer AFB in 1959 and became an operational F-101 “Voodoo” aircraft Squadron .  This came shortly after K. I. Sawyer’s runway was extended to 12,300 feet long by 300 feet wide with 1000 foot overruns and 24 inches of concrete.

Below are various photos (posted with permission of Ken Watterson and Lani Duquette) that show 62nd F-101s, patches and in-air scenes.
