October 27 ... workin' to button up all the panels

Day 13 was very productive. The tire and wheels were picked up in Green Bay by Lee Nellist and his fishing buddy. They look good and are now a lot heavier. Now they are off to be sand blasted and painted before being put on the jet. Steve Farnsworth, Jim Heinz, Lee and Lani Duquette spent the day sealing and reinstalling panels. Not many to go now. Tommy Lew spent all morning up on a "texas tower" sealing and reinstalling the tip of the tail and the leading edge panels. He was quite busy riveting and screwing in lots of screws.

Our new "Delta Dart" friend Dan Benstrom stopped by and helped with odds and ends plus helped clean up at the end of the day.

The American Eagle Airlines Ground Support Shop made us two hold rods to lock out the elevons in the neutral position on both sides of the jet. We thank them for their continued support.

One more major work day. Few more panels to seal and reinstall and prep the girl for her winter sleep.

There's a picture of the sealant being used that was donated by PRC-DeSoto International of Indianapolis, Indiana. We thank PPG Industries Company, Thomas Kearney and Karen Napier for the donation and support of our F-106A Restoration Project.

It is folks like these who are making our project such a huge success.

According to our maintenance plan, we are right where we want to be. With the exception of installing the gear rotator, drag link and actuators on the main landing gears, we are pretty well on schedule. As soon as the tires are painted and installed, 461 will be fully towable.

The last work session will be on Monday October 31 at 2 pm.
