K.I. Sawyer AFB, MI Bomber Alert Pad, September 1966

A larger version of this picture hung in the K.I. Sawyer AFB, MI bomber alert pad for over forty years. At the end of the cold war threat and when the bombers and tankers came off around the clock alert, the picture became the property of Rich Harvey, one of the aircrew standing in the picture. The original picture now hangs in Mr. Harvey’s office at the Iron Range Superior Community Federal Credit Union in Negaunee, MI. The picture is of his first crew at K.I. Sawyer in September of 1966.

Standing L to R are: Major Russ Gruewald, Capt. John Lemon, Major Hugh McKay, Lt. Harry, Lt. Little and Sgt. Rich Harvey, Ret. CMSgt.

This picture was donated to the K.I. Sawyer Museum by Rich Harvey, February 2008.
