T-37B "SAVE-A-TWEET"

(Example of a T-37B "Tweet")

New info will be posted as it becomes available.

The Board of Directors of the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum have started the process to bring a T-37B "Tweet" jet trainer back to K.I. Sawyer. Current Chairman of the Board and Acting Museum Curator Dan Benstrom, will be heading up the program and request. Dan has contacted Tom Brewer of the U.S.A.F. Museum in Ohio to make this request. The T-37B's were assigned to K.I. Sawyer AFB for many years as the "Accelerated Co-Pilot Enrichment" (ACE) Program where KC-135 and B-52 pilot's could get additional "stick time" without taking the large tanker or bomber up for just flying time. Dan Benstrom was the Project Manager of this program the entire time it was at K.I. Sawyer. The aircraft were based out of Vance AFB, Oklahoma. If Sawyer is to receive a "Tweet", it will be completely refurbished at and will come from Vance. The museum looks forward to having this aircraft join the current static's on display at K.I. Sawyer. If you would like to help this project become a reality, please make a donation to the "Save-A-Tweet" Project by contacting the curator via email or snail mail of the museum. Your donation can also be made through the museum's Pay-Pal system.

March 29th 2006 - Update

The final paperwork has been submitted to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio asking for the loan for static display of a T-37B "Tweet" aircraft. The request has been made through the local chapter of the Air Force Association (AFA) who currently has custody of other static displays on K.I. Sawyer.

If you were stationed at Sawyer and went through the A.C.E. program, your help is needed now. The fundraising efforts for the T-37 Project have begun and we need to raise at least $10,000. This money will be used for transporting the "Tweet" from Vance AFB, OK to K.I. Sawyer. The money will also be used to construct a mount for the aircraft.

Very little restoration work will be needed. The aircraft will be completely painted before we pick it up.

Send a contribution today! Make your checks out to the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum/ T-37 Project and mail them to 500 S. Front Street, Marquette, MI 49855 or send your donation via Pay Pal on the museum web site. The donation should be sent to kisham.accounts@kishamuseum.org

Keep watching the website for T-37 Project updates.

Spring 2007 - Update
