Phase 2 - Day 1
|

|
Restoration continues! Most of the day was spent just getting our feet on the ground and getting all of the support equipment out of storage and get it running. "Air" and "Power" were the key words today. Steve Farnsworth reinstalled the instrument panel in the cockpit and came up with ideas to finish off that area so we can close and secure the canopy. Bob Vick did a lot of little odd jobs that included sweeping the floor where the porta-potty was going to go, installed some missing screws in a couple of panels and helped Lani organize parts and equipment. "Woody" Wood and Jim Heinz shot over 500 cherry-mac rivets into the entire wing fairing, top and bottom. BIG job but it is done. Jim and Woody also replaced several unsightly screws with rivets. We also received word today that we have been given the approval from Marquette County to start the sanding and painting process as soon as we get to that point. There were some concerns raised by the county concerning the painting but all agencies involved have been contacted and everyone has made it a go. Everyone working today was glad to get back to work. We will meet again next Thursday.
