Work begins on 461

On Thursday, July 28 2005 a group of 10 guys got together and started in on the restoration of 56-0461.  A team of 8 were able to keep going for four hours.  Included in the pictures below are:

David Olson in the blue shirt

Sitting on elevon was James Heinz

Working in left wheel well is Richard "Woody" Wood

In the red shirt is Jim Dellies

There are two guys working on wing, the one in the blue shirt is James "Steve" Farnsworth

The guy in the Navy shirt working on wing is Bill Dauling

Caught taking a nap under wing (just kidding of course) is Steve Farnsworth

 

Some of the tasks this team tackled were:

  • Peeled storage tape from wings and fuselage.

  • Removed excess hyd. lines from fuselage wheel wells.

  • Prepared wing seam. Removed rivet bodies from wing fairings.

  • Removed excess tubing and electrical components from wing inboard.

  • Did a maintenance assessment of the aircraft.

  • Discussed work schedules.

  • Discussed safety issues.
